I saw this in a bookstore today. I didn't have to inspect further, but yes, this is in fact THE David Mamet.I'm not sure what the content of the book is, but it looks like a children's book... if so, this makes the man a playwright, director, "expert" on anti-semitism AND... and now an influence on our children.

Yeah, this has been out for a while now.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't necessarily use the word "expert" but nor would I put the term in scare quotes. His writings on antisemitisim are not scholarly (I have only read excerpts) but there is a certain psychological astuteness to his observations in the sense that I have definitely encountered some of the personality types he describes-- which at least ranks him higher than the average polemicist. It's definitely more entertaining than some of his more recent plays.
So I'd just call him a "polemicist" and leave it at that.
